The Primeros Libros de las Américas<https://primeroslibros.org/spotlight/primeros-libros-de-las-americas> project<https://primeroslibros.org/spotlight/primeros-libros-de-las-americas>, an international collaboration of more than 25 institutional partners throughout Mexico, Spain, Peru, and the United States that seeks to bring together digitally the first books printed in the Americas before 1601, is organizing its triennial symposium, which will take place in person on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Francisco de Burgoa Library (UABJO), Oaxaca, Mexico<https://maps.app.goo.gl/d6AHipxkDhnE3wQi7>.

We invite scholars who are undertaking research related to book production, trade, and use in the Americas during the 16th century to submit presentation proposals. Scholarship on the following themes is welcome:

- Literary genres produced and consumed in the American colonies;
- Writing and publication of texts in Indigenous languages;
- Prior censorship, licensing, and publication of manuscripts;
- Typography, commercial practices, and the financing of American printing presses;
- Materiality of books, including paper, bindings, and provenance marks;
- Engravings and ornaments;
- Circulation of books;
- Development of private and institutional libraries;
- Individual reading practices and reader surveillance.
