Dear all,
In Summer B, I will be teaching the course described below. This counts as an elective for the minor in Digital Humanities<https://www.unf.edu/dhi/Minor_in_Digital_Humanities/>.
Sincerely,

DIG3152 Introduction to Electronic Textual Editing
Students in this course will gain hands-on experience in the transcription and online publication of archival documents. We will work with materials related to the history of North Florida held in repositories including the Thomas G. Carpenter Library Special Collections, the Jacksonville Historical Society, the St. Augustine Historical Society, and potentially others. The course will also involve virtual visits to the archives, as well as conversations with archivists. We will use TEI-XML, the international standard for text encoding in the humanities, and Omeka, an open-source platform for creating and publishing digital archives. This will be a fully online course delivered primarily in an asynchronous format, with opportunities for students to meet individually or in groups with the professor and representatives from the archives, as desired. Students will be able to choose the materials with which they work. Please contact Dr. Clayton McCarl (clayton.mccarl at unf.edu) if you have questions.
