January 19, 7-8:30pm “The Urban Geography of African American Jacksonville,” a panel discussion and community conversation. Speakers: Ennis Davis, journalist and urban planner; Kristopher Smith, Community Development Program Officer, Local Initiative Support Corp. Jacksonville; Suzanne Pickett, Historic Eastside Community Development Corporation. Location: Jessie Ball duPont Center



February 23, 7-8:30pm “Teaching About Jacksonville’s African American History.”  A panel discussion and community conversation. Speakers: Scott Matthews, professor of history, FSCJ; S. Erin Conklin, supervisor for K-12 Social Studies, Duval County Public Schools; Dr. David Jamison, Assistant Professor of History, Edward Waters University. Location: Downtown Campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ)



March 23, 7-8:30pm “Recovering Local African American History: A Hands-On Workshop,” a hands-on digital editing workshop fostering campus-community collaboration, offered in partnership by UNF and Edward Waters University. The workshop will involve materials from the Eartha M.M. White Collection at UNF and will be facilitated by faculty and students from UNF and Edward Waters, including Susan Swiatosz, head of Special Collections in the Thomas G. Carpenter Library; Clayton McCarl, associate professor of Spanish and Digital Humanities; David Jamison, Assistant Professor of History, Edward Waters University. Location: Jessie Ball duPont Center



April 20, 7-8:30pm  “African American History Harvest,” an opportunity for members of the community to share and discuss their family artifacts related to local African American history. Representatives from local museums, archives, and historical societies will be present to share in discussion and help contextualize the objects. Moderators: Imani Phillips, Adult Programming Coordinator for the Jacksonville Public Library, and Justin Rogers, UNF Assistant Professor of History. Representatives: Alan Bliss, Mitch Hemann, Mia McNair. Location: Downtown Library
