CALL FOR STUDENT PAPERS & POSTERS University of North Florida Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work   Fourteenth Annual Student Research Symposium Friday, April 21, 2023 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Working on a research project or paper in your Sociology, Anthropology, or Social Work class that you would like to develop into a professional presentation?

Submit your application to participate in our fourteenth annual Student Symposium.

This is a great opportunity to present your research in a friendly and supportive academic environment!

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  *   Student presentations can cover any area of sociology, anthropology, or social work.
  *   Students first need to identify a faculty mentor to advise them in their research and final presentation.
  *   You need to speak with your faculty mentor to discuss your ideas before submitting an abstract. Students and their mentors need to agree on a presentation topic.
  *   All interested students should then submit a 150-word (or less) abstract. For assistance with abstracts, these websites may be helpful:

  *   As part of the abstract submission process, students must declare whether their presentation will be a poster or a podium paper (PowerPoint) presentation (again discuss this with your mentor).
  *   Participants will showcase their work in a poster or 15-minute presentation. Once you decide on your presentation format you will not be allowed to change it.

  *   The Symposium committee will contact your faculty mentor to verify their support of your presentation.
  *   Each participant is required to attend an info session the week of March 6-10. Those presenting a paper must also attend a pre-symposium practice session the week of April 10-14. More details to come.
