You are invited to Voces y Caras: Hispanic Communities of North Florida

 September 14 – October 14, 2023

Opening Reception: September 14, 2023, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

This multimedia exhibition explores the culture, contributions, and personal stories of Hispanic people in our area. It highlights Voces y Caras: Hispanic Communities of North Florida, an oral history project that involves students of Hispanic heritage who interview family members and local residents to document their experiences as immigrants. Led by Dr. Constanza López, associate professor at the University of North Florida, Voces y Caras has collected over 200 interviews since 2012. Curated by Sheila Goloborotko, the exhibition also showcases visual art by UNF students and alums, as well as music and folk art throughout the Hispanic world.

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, the Department of Art, Art History, and Design, the UNF Digital Humanities Institute, the UNF Gallery of Art, and The Center for Instruction and Research Technology (CIRT) have come together to present this important exhibit as a way of building community, promoting engagement, and celebrating our culture.
