Subject: 2/6, Immersive Media and 3D Visualization with Dr. Ángeles Fernández Cifuentes and Dr. Johana Barrero
Dear all,
Thanks to everyone who joined us in November for Dr. Chris Baynard's talk on spatial analysis. We've prepared a video with highlights<https://youtu.be/i5aw4jqSD3U?si=hT2h-5MY9i9zrWKA> in which Dr. Baynard explains what spatial analysis is, shares several examples, and discusses how faculty can get started. Robert Richardson, assistant director of research technology at UNF, makes a special guest appearance.
Dr. Ángeles Fernández Cifuentes and Dr. Johana Barrero will give the next talk in our series on digital methodologies on Tuesday, February 6, 3:30-4:30 PM (register here<https://unf.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Ia8gqivlRfGyv8EW8BX1nw>). They will discuss their work creating virtual reality experiences, 3D visualizations, and other immersive media in collaboration with students in the context of teaching about the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Their work in these areas relates to the OER Immersive Multimedia Materials Project and Accessible Classics: Digital Adaptations for People with Reading Difficulties, both affiliated projects of the UNF Digital Humanities Institute. Dr. Fernández Cifuentes and Dr. Barrero will discuss the pedagogical, technical, and ethical aspects of immersive technologies, which can provide opportunities for innovation, as well as greater inclusion and access, in education.
These events are co-sponsored by the Digital Humanities Institute and the UNF Office of Faculty Excellence and are open to all. We welcome participation by colleagues from other institutions.
Sincerely,
Clayton
