Hello all,

I’m writing to circulate this opportunity for UNF students to participate in our new Archivist in Training Program, funded by National Endowment for the Humanities for three years (2025-2028). Below I’ve included a description of the program, a timeline for the first year+ of the program, and instructions on how to apply (deadline: Feb 28). Could you forward this on to any interested students, or your majors, or minors?

This two-semester Archivist in Training program provides funding ($3,000 stipends) for UNF student fellows to receive three weeks of intensive training in archives and preservation at UNF Special Collections; to conduct a semester-long internship course with one of our five partner organizations (Ritz Theatre and Museum; Eartha MM White Museum; Durkeeville Historical Society; Mandarin Historical Society; and Lincolnville Cultural Center and Museum); and to receive an extra semester of faculty mentorship designed to help students develop a professional presentation that builds on the skills they have developed and/or reflects on the historical importance of the documents they have helped to process and preserve. We also have some travel funding for student and faculty fellows to travel to professional conferences to deliver these presentations.

This is a two-semester program, so students must be willing to sign on for two semesters (and have a graduation date of Spring 2026 or later).

Here is a brief timeline of how the program will run in its first year (of three years):
