Imagine blending the timeless study of human history, art, culture, and society with the cutting-edge tools of modern technology. That's what Digital Humanities is all about, and at UNF, we're at the forefront of this exciting movement! The UNF Digital Humanities Institute (DHI) is a dynamic space where students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of disciplines come together to tackle age-old questions using innovative digital tools. Whether it's creating interactive art projects, analyzing historical data, or using technology to make humanities research more accessible to the public, DHI is where creativity and tech meet! By joining this growing field, students at UNF gain the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world, preparing for careers in fields like research, education, technology, arts, and more. From hands-on workshops to internships and fellowships, the DHI provides endless opportunities for learning and growth.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for next Wed, April 9 from 3-5pm for the DHI Spring Showcase! Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Nashid Madyun, Director of the Florida Humanities Council. DHI has never mattered more than in these times of historical erasure, so I hope you will plan to attend his important remarks. There will be posters from Anne Pfister, Will Pewitt, Jessica Stark, Nick de Villiers, Kassie Terrell, Jessie Yanson, Christian Merkley (fresh off his Graduate Library Prize winner), Tru Leverette Hall and Maureen McCluskey, Lucy Hollins, and James Beasley.

Thanks to RealMLS, the partner whose UNF Foundation gift of $20,000 makes the presentation of our showcase more meaningful. Make sure to invite your students and your colleagues to join in the festivities! We will have a hors d'oeuvres buffet of veggie crudité, spanakopita, egg rolls, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, coconut shrimp, and chicken satay plus coffee and tea.

If you have any questions, please let me or Lucy Hollins know!
Best,
James Beasley
