The Digital Ethnic Futures Consortium (DEFCon) is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for Teaching Fellowships for Summer 2025. Applications are due May 31, 2025 and decisions will be made by June 10, 2025. </div>

Eligibility: Faculty (contingent and tenure-line) and librarians at four-year or two-year public colleges and universities in the U.S. or U.S. territories (excluding R1s) who wish to develop a course in ethnic studies that integrates digital humanities methodologies
or a course in digital humanities that integrates ethnic studies.</div>

DEFCon Teaching Fellowships support course design. Fellows develop a course that explores topics from one or more ethnic studies fields (Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and Asian American studies) and digital humanities. Courses that include a community-engaged
component are especially welcome. Revamping an existing course to include digital humanities assignments is also welcome. These materials will be deposited in Humanities Commons with a Creative Commons license to permit reuse with attribution. Fellows retain
the rights to their materials.</div>

DEFCon Teaching Fellows receive a stipend of $2,500 (50 hours @ $50/hour) to support their course development. </div>

Teaching Fellows are also paired with a mentor, an experienced digital humanist, who will offer 25 hours of support for their work during the summer. We also encourage fellows to attend our virtual summer workshops, which will teach them how to use open-source
digital humanities tools that work well in the classroom. </div>

The deliverable for this program is a syllabus for the course and assignment materials to be completed by August 31, 2025. Fellows are also encouraged to present their work at our Virtual Annual Meeting in September. </div>

This will be paid as a stipend to the fellow directly as a contractor. We can only make payments to individuals, and we cannot make payments directly to universities. Payments will be disbursed by end of July. </div>
