Screening of ‘Plastic Planet’ on March 1, 2012
Join us on Thursday, March 1, 2012 in the Robinson Theater for a screening of the documentary ‘Plastic Planet. There will be a discussion panel following the movie.
This screening is part of the Osprey Eco-Films series, which will show five documentaries covering a range of environmental and social topics. Visit www.unf.edu/ecenter<http://www.unf.edu/ecenter> for more information.
We live in the Age of Plastic. It’s cheap and practical, and it’s everywhere – even in our blood. But is it a danger to us?
This feisty, informative documentary takes us on a journey around the globe - from the Moroccan Sahara to the middle of the Pacific Ocean, from a factory in China to the highest peaks of the Alps - to reveal the far-flung reaches of our plastic problem. Interviews with the world’s foremost experts in biology, pharmacology, and genetics shed light on the perils of plastic to our environment and expose the truth of how plastic affects our bodies and the health of future generations.

Recyclemania
This year’s Recyclemania Competition is off to an excellent start! A number of large, green recycling bins have already been set up in all of the dorms (except for the Fountains) for students to put their recyclables in. Every week a group volunteers, coordinated by the E-Center volunteer coordinator Abdub Jirmo, collect and weigh the recyclables from each dorm. The week-by-week results can be found on the E-Center website.

The dorm that recycles the most materials per resident will win a pizza party and a screening of the documentary ‘No Impact Man’. After two weeks of reporting, the Villages, the reining Recyclemania champions, have a slight lead over the Landing. There is still a lot of time left, so keep up all the hard work everyone!
