1. A study published in Nature suggests that CO2 from melting permafrost created a positive feedback and a prolonged period of warming 55 million years ago. The trigger was a slight warming and an associated slowing of Atlantic Ocean circulation. http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2012/apr/04/study-rising-co2-global-warming

2. Another Nature article reports that the end of an ice age 11,700 years ago followed a wobble in the earth’s orbit leading to a positive feedback from CO2 emissions. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/04/us-climate-carbon-iceage-idUSBRE8330ZE20120404?feedType=RSS&feedName=environmentNews&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+reuters%2Fenvironment+%28News+%2F+US+%2F+Environment%29

3. During global cooling the oceans remove CO2 from the atmosphere and store it deep underwater, a mechanism we may now be disrupting. http://e360.yale.edu/digest/swiss_german_scientists_id_where_carbon_dioxide_hidden_during_ice_ages/3400/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+YaleEnvironment360+%28Yale+Environment+360%29

4. Stronger and more persistent weather patterns such as March’s US heat wave follow from Arctic heating. http://www.climatecentral.org/news/arctic-warming-is-altering-weather-patterns-study-shows/

5. A survey of Antarctic ice shelves documents that the floating shelves calve and disintegrate, leading the grounded glacier behind the shelf to detach from the bay walls which stabilize it. http://www.enn.com/climate/article/44194?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ClimateChangeNews-Enn+%28Climate+Change+News+-+ENN%29

6. Canadian conservatives are dismantling the government’s environmental research and advisory capacities. http://www.vancouversun.com/business/Conservatives+turn+Internet+after+pulling+plug+environmental+panel/6388798/story.html

7. Hallandale Beach in South Florida in planning for climate adaptation finds that potable water and sewage treatment are the biggest problems. http://www.climatecentral.org/news/the-future-is-now-for-sea-level-rise-in-south-florida/

8. General Motors has detached itself from the Heartland Institute, a reliable source of denier activity. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/mar/30/climate-change-general-motors-heartland-institute

9. In his acceptance speech for the Edinburgh Medal James Hansen is expected to say that climate change is a moral challenge on a par with slavery, and to call for a world-wide flat carbon tax. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/apr/06/nasa-scientist-climate-change?newsfeed=true
