1. Bloomberg looks at the coming property crisis in South Florida. One trigger of a collapse would be boats no longer able to get under bridges because of sea level rise. No sees a source of money to reimburse or relocate people whose property has become uninhabitable. Brian Paradise sends the story. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2017-04-19/the-nightmare-scenario-for-florida-s-coastal-homeowners

2. The first survey of meltwater on Antarctic ice shelves found more than expected, and discovered that large amounts of meltwater are flowing, threatening to destabilize the shelves. Conversely, the flowing water can act to stabilize the shelves in some cases. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2017/04/19/the-surface-of-antarctica-is-covered-with-flowing-water-that-has-scientists-worried/?utm_term=.00e27813a0ad

3. I have been trying to follow up on the news from Skeptical Science in last week's listings that sea level rise has tripled since 2011. I was having no luck and returned to the original article. It was written in 2013, which explains my difficulty but requires an apology from me. The years 2011-13 did turn out to present an unusual but not persistent anomaly. I am sorry to have been so careless and resolve to improve.

4. David Suzuki considers the disappearance of Canada's Slims River a case of climate piracy, and holds that it is a warning to us pirates. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/apr/21/rivers-vanishing-thin-air-climate-crisis

5. Todd Sack has retired from his medical practice and is Co-Chair of the Environment and Health Committee of the Physicians for Social Responsibility. He just marched with the PSR (and about 40,000 companions) for science in San Francisco and, while in the city, recorded this fifty minute talk on Adding Climate Change to your Life & Medical Practice. I know it is somewhat specialized, but as a non-medical person I found it worth my time. It is a good review of climate science, with an emphasis on climate and health issues. Todd has a long record of environmental efforts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WwaLuJQRTE

6. A new report shows that the Arctic is warming faster than expected, with effects to be felt broadly. Determined action to control greenhouse gas emissions could stabilize the Arctic. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/arctic-climate-warming-ice-report-1.4083728 ?
