1. Stanford U researchers estimate that 1.3 million people have relocated from coastal areas already because of sea level rise. The figure is due to rise steeply, and we need to begin planning for the relocations. We should begin offering incentives to relocate for those at risk, and cease subsidizing those who stay. http://www.climatecentral.org/news/communities-retreat-oceans-swell-coasts-erode-21282 The New Yorker presents some issues involved in relocation. When the government and the citizens are in conflict, or when either are dug in at the status quo, the decision becomes more difficult. http://www.newyorker.com/tech/elements/when-is-it-time-to-retreat-from-climate-change?mbid=nl_170328_Daily&CNDID=18164692&spMailingID=10709031&spUserID=MTMzMTc5Njc3ODE1S0&spJobID=1122248743&spReportId=MTEyMjI0ODc0MwS2

2. Soil microbes may increase the earth's reflectivity, threaten increased CO2 emissions, and protect plants from drought. http://climatenewsnetwork.net/soil-microbes-key-climate-puzzle/?utm_source=Climate+News+Network&utm_campaign=f24083c402-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_03_28&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_1198ea8936-f24083c402-38803053

3. Peter Sinclair has assembled stories which look at angles of current president Trump's assault on climate action, from public opinion to politics to employment. https://climatecrocks.com/2017/03/27/for-gang-that-cant-shoot-straight-unwinding-climate-law-not-a-slam-dunk/

4. Before Trump took office many researchers took the precaution of archiving data on government sites, and indeed Trump's creatures have begun to remove materials on those sites. One consequence is that citations of those sources in scientific articles have gone dead, posing a challenge to continuing work. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/mar/28/arctic-researcher-donald-trump-deleting-my-citations

5. As part of their settlement of the charge of cheating on diesel emissions, Volkswagen will build 400 fast charging stations for electric vehicles in the US. The stations will be the first stage of Electrify America's planned non-proprietary network of such stations. https://cleantechnica.com/2017/03/27/volkswagens-2-billion-settlement-diesel-emissions-cheating-will-see-400-ev-fast-charging-stations-built-usa/

6. Trump's attack on climate action is consistent with a familiar right wing fear of international perspectives. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2017/03/29/trumps-climate-change-shift-is-really-about-killing-the-international-order/?utm_term=.3a8f3e454fca

7. Swedish researchers have developed a compact system using liquids to convert sunlight into energy and to store it, achieving over 80% efficiency. The device is essentially a solar-charged battery. Storing energy in chemical bonds is inexpensive and compact. http://www.anthropocenemagazine.org/2017/03/compact-efficient-system-stores-solar-energy-in-liquids/

8. China is instituting a carbon price this year. Not to do so would leave us at an economic disadvantage. China, the EU, and some US states (not anti-solar Florida) are leaving the federal government behind. https://climatecrocks.com/2017/03/29/china-europe-and-smart-us-states-ready-to-lead-on-climate/ ?
