1. In How Renewable Energy Will Destroy Fossil Fuels, The Motley Fool recommends that investors take the energy transition into account. https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/11/24/how-renewable-energy-will-destroy-fossil-fuels.aspx

2. In the US renewable energy has gone from 7.7% in 2001 to 14.9% in 2016. Iowa is now 37% renewable. The values of fossil fuel and renewable stocks used to track but they now diverge, with the renewables growing much more rapidly. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/20/its-renewable-energy-over-bitcoin-if-you-want-a-risky-bet-on-future.html

3. China will develop distributed generation of renewable power by allowing small and medium producers to sell energy directly to customers at market rates, while reducing the government subsidies for wind and solar. The move is expected to reduce the need for cross-country transmission lines. The program is restricted to areas with high power demand and ample transmission capacity. https://cleantechnica.com/2017/11/24/china-unveils-major-reform-boost-renewable-energy-trading/

4. One effect of releasing sulphate aerosols in the upper atmosphere would be dimmer solar radiation of the earth. Another would be sustained drought in the Sahel region of Africa. Many studies have warned about the negative, perhaps unintended consequences of climate engineering. http://climatenewsnetwork.net/23484-2/ Because acidification of the oceans would proceed, sulfate aerosols cannot prevent the damage we are doing to the earth, only suppress a symptom, locally and temporarily.

5. Scientists at Harvard and the U of Washington, concerned that governments may fail to control emissions in time to avoid runaway warming, are planning experiments in geoengineering. Others, including a former top UN adviser, are proposing a hold on climate experimentation until we evaluate the risks and benefits. https://www.eenews.net/stories/1060067137 ?
