1. The UN reports that the number of people with inadequate access to clean water will increase by billions as of 2050 unless we begin to cope with the problem. https://www.ecowatch.com/global-water-access-quality-2549813548.html?utm_source=EcoWatch+List&utm_campaign=981904566a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_49c7d43dc9-981904566a-85965093

The report recommends Nature Based Solutions. The executive summary: http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0026/002615/261594e.pdf

2. EPA head Scott Pruitt has taken on the task of destroying clean water regulations in the US. https://www.ecowatch.com/epa-water-pollution-rules-2548452318.html?utm_source=EcoWatch+List&utm_campaign=981904566a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_49c7d43dc9-981904566a-85965093

3. The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, ARPA-E, has fostered projects when went on to receive billions of dollars of private support since it was formed in 2007. Its mission is to support projects unlikely to get off the ground with private money. (Its older sister, DARPA, laid the groundwork for the internet.) The Trump wrecking ball is taking aim. Meanwhile, some interesting ideas were floated at its annual conference. It might be possible to farm kelp in deep water with robots, for example, for the purpose of collecting and sequestering carbon. Try the four-minute video on new wind power projects. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/16/climate/arpa-e-summit.html

4. Totten Glacier in the East Antarctic, about the size of France, is being undermined by sea water and is less stable than previously thought. https://phys.org/news/2018-03-sea-giant-antarctic-glacier-thought.html

5. Individual solar power costs a bit more than centralized solar power, but when the local spending value is considered, public service commissions will find a clear advantage to distributed solar power generation-unless their priority is corporate profit and not the common good. https://cleantechnica.com/2018/03/19/solar-surprise-small-scale-solar-better-deal-big/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+IM-cleantechnica+%28CleanTechnica%29

6. A case against the oil companies in California has become a showcase for climate science (and anti-science). https://grist.org/article/climate-change-will-have-its-scopes-monkey-trial-this-week/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=daily

The Guardian supplied a brief set of answers to Judge Alsup's fourteen climate questions. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/mar/21/a-judge-asks-basic-questions-about-climate-change-we-answer-them ?
