1. Colorado State’s Scott Denning discusses the methods and implications of the recent finding that the oceans have stored more heat than we thought. We will need to move quickly toward eliminating carbon emissions. https://theconversation.com/new-findings-on-ocean-warming-5-questions-answered-106215?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20November%202%202018%20-%201151610398&utm_content=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20November%202%202018%20-%201151610398+CID_4f216ae71045bf1eef73a6e1c73db726&utm_source=campaign_monitor_us&utm_term=New%20findings%20on%20ocean%20warming%205%20questions%20answered

According to a new study, the oceans have absorbed more heat from climate change than previously thought. This could mean the Earth will warm even faster in the future than scientists have predicted.

2. Abrupt climate change has happened in the past and could fall ahead. Thwaites Glacier in the West Antarctic and the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation are two areas of concern. https://www.yaleclimateconnections.org/2018/10/unknowingly-on-edge-of-a-climate-precipice/

Scientists are keeping a close eye on the prospects for abrupt climate change, with some findings prompting increasing concerns.

3. US CO2 emissions from electric power generation have dropped more than a third since 2006. Lower demand (partly due to increasing efficiency) and growing use of renewable energy both played a part. https://aceee.org/blog/2018/11/eia-reduced-electric-demand-has
