4. California’s governor Jerry Brown has organized the Global Action Climate Summit for cities, regions, and business to talk about plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 5. At the Global Action Climate Summit Christiana Figueres and Johan Rockstrom reported that we are experiencing exponential growth in wind and solar installations, and in green bond investments. “There’s never been such a reason to be hopeful.” https://grist.org/article/a-concept-you-learned-in-middle-school-math-could-save-us-from-climate-disaster/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=daily

Keeping the planet at a low simmer will require massive change. Here’s some good news.

6. Sustainable intensification is already practiced on 10% of the world’s farmlands. A collection of simple procedures raises productivity, reduces atmospheric carbon and increases soil carbon, and lowers costs. Such practices, along with a biochar program, have the potential to lower the average global temperature almost half a degree C, or a little less than half of the warming so far (assuming we bring our emissions under control). https://mailchi.mp/climatenewsnetwork/farms-can-grow-more-and-slow-climate-change?e=ea792e87f2
