2. The article building the case for the planetary health diet is much more technical than the Dirty Girl’s, and worth the trouble. The full text is linked under “Commission”. Essentially, to control emissions sufficiently to avoid catastrophic warming and to achieve a sustainable civilization we need to move to a healthier, plant-centered diet, which has a side effect of saving 11 million lives a year. This crucial article was not available when I listed news stories on it Jan. 19. https://www.thelancet.com/commissions/EAT

3. Burger King is testing an Impossible Whopper which is said to be indistinguishable from the original cow-based one. I can’t imagine a better tool to encourage a dietary transition. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/01/technology/burger-king-impossible-whopper.html?emc=edit_th_190402&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=436283740402

Burger King is introducing a Whopper made with a vegetarian patty from the start-up Impossible Foods. The deal is a big step toward the mainstream for start-ups trying to mimic and replace meat.

4. The International Renewable Energy Agency reports that two-thirds of the power added last year was in renewables, which now account for a third of global energy capacity. Asia and Africa led in the percentage of added renewable power. https://www.zawya.com/mena/en/press-releases/story/Renewable_Energy_Now_Accounts_for_a_Third_of_Global_Power_Capacity-ZAWYA20190402102151/

5. Electric cars are more environmentally benign than gas mobiles, are becoming available to about anyone who can buy a car, and can profitably be accommodated by the electric grid (in spite of talking points from the fossils). https://cleantechnica.com/2019/04/01/debunking-3-anti-ev-myths/?utm_source=CleanTechnica+News&utm_campaign=85aaa869b6-Daily+Email+CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b9b83ee7eb-85aaa869b6-331994013
