1. Cutting electricity use is easier for cities than cutting emissions from buildings, which generally account for about 40% of emissions. New York City has just approved a package of ten measures, including what they claim as the world’s largest cut in building emissions. The measures are expected to generate almost 30,000 jobs. https://insideclimatenews.org/news/18042019/new-york-city-climate-solutions-buildings-energy-efficiency-jobs-low-income-greenhouse-gases?utm_source=InsideClimate+News&utm_campaign=421af59ce8-&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_29c928ffb5-421af59ce8-326454481

One feature of the ten-part program to lower the City’s emissions by almost 40% by 2030 is to eliminate the City’s purchase of processed meats and cut the purchase of beef by 50%. https://www.livekindly.co/new-york-city-cut-meat-consumption-by-50/

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced today a plan to slash greenhouse gases by phasing out the purchase of processed meat and reducing beef purchases by 50 percent.. The actions are part of the city’s own “Green New Deal” to attack the issue of global warming from all fronts in order to reduce emissions. The plan, laid out in “OneNYC 2050,” will ensure that NYC adheres to the ...

2. Feedback loops, often ignored in early projections of global warming, are already in progress and adding to the heat. There is some good news—melting permafrost, it was feared, would lead to rapid and unstoppable warming. Instead, it is making control more difficult, not impossible. Some bad news: Harold Wanless warns that feedback loops appear to be leading to the great pulses of meltwater which in the past have caused rapid and major rises in sea level—ten meters within a century. https://www.yahoo.com/news/its-already-begun-feedback-loops-will-make-climate-change-even-worse-scientists-say-090000011.html
