1. California’s Building Decarbonization Coalition has released a plan to bring carbon emissions from the sector to zero by 2045. Buildings now account for 26% of the state’s emissions. This is a model approach to a problem area in emissions control. https://archpaper.com/2019/02/california-building-decarbonization-coalition/?trk_msg=7TNQADC26JAKTCP6E23DKTC40C&trk_contact=PRLDMSQ3ARR6JO25O7L872SE7G&trk_module=new&trk_sid=J5G8TC6OTTMVKUKKLUTNVR7AJO&utm_source=listrak&utm_medium=email&utm_term=California%E2%80%99s+Building+Decarbonization+Coalition+plans+to+green+building+operationsAs+D.C.+shuffles+it+feet%2c+Californians+are+banding+together+to+help+the+state+meet+agressive+emission+reduction+numbers.&utm_campaign=Californians+fight+climate+change%2c+the+five-star+treatment+goes+underwater%2c+New+Delhi+gets+a+new+U.S

2. Sovereign wealth funds have invested only .2% of their assets in renewable energy. They have been reluctant to move investments from fossil fuels. Over 70 such funds, which derive the majority of their wealth from fossil fuels, control about $8 trillion in assets. The World Economic Forum observes that they are better equipped to invest in the energy transition than are private funds. Their impact could be great, and fossil fuels are increasingly a losing bet anyway. https://cleantechnica.com/2019/03/03/isnt-it-time-to-devote-sovereign-wealth-funds-to-tackle-climate-change/?utm_source=CleanTechnica+News&utm_campaign=0f84ca68a5-Daily+Email+CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b9b83ee7eb-0f84ca68a5-331994013

The canaries foretelling ocean acidification fly through the water on winglike feet, lofting their tiny curl of a shell behind them. And those shells are dissolving. For more than a decade, laboratory studies and models have warned of the vulnerability of pteropods—tiny sea snails also known as ...

4. Regional ocean heatwaves are like wildfires on land, wiping out whole areas of kelp, coral, and organisms from plankton to sea mammals. The heatwaves have tripled in the last few years. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/mar/04/heatwaves-sweeping-oceans-like-wildfires-scientists-reveal

6. In combination with other emissions control strategies, agricultural practices have the potential to sequester enough carbon to take us back to safe levels of atmospheric carbon. A third of the carbon in in air now used to be in the soil. Carbon farming can return it there. https://cleantechnica.com/2019/03/05/back-to-the-earth-carbon-farming-the-green-new-deal/?utm_source=CleanTechnica+News&utm_campaign=e8376d4cb4-Daily+Email+CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b9b83ee7eb-e8376d4cb4-331994013
