1. A Washington Post poll found that most US teens are concerned about the climate crisis, and a quarter have already taken some action—attended a demonstration, participated in a walkout, or communicated with an official on the issue. https://beta.washingtonpost.com/science/most-american-teens-are-frightened-by-climate-change-poll-finds-and-about-1-in-4-are-taking-action/2019/09/15/1936da1c-d639-11e9-9610-fb56c5522e1c_story.html?noredirect=on

2. China is not only leading the world in its transition from fossil fuels, it leads in reforestation, having planted 38 billion trees since 1990. While China’s emissions are still rising, it is about a decade ahead of its emissions pledge under the Paris Accord and is expected to adjust its targets upward. https://cleantechnica.com/2019/09/16/china-is-doing-a-lot-better-on-climate-action-than-most-people-realize/?utm_source=CleanTechnica+News&utm_campaign=ef8daf56e2-Daily+Email+CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b9b83ee7eb-ef8daf56e2-331994013

3. Greta Thunberg and other young activists spoke to a senate panel. “If you want advice for what you should do, invite scientists, ask scientists for their expertise. We don’t want to be heard. We want the science to be heard.” In remarks meant for Congress as a whole, she said: “I know you are trying but just not hard enough. Sorry.” A global climate strike is scheduled for this Friday. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/sep/17/greta-thunberg-to-congress-youre-not-trying-hard-enough-sorry

4. The situation is so dire that climate strikes and admonitions to congress may not have the time left to make their influence felt. Bill McKibben suggests that the best hope lies with the financiers, who could shut off the cash spigot to the fossil fuel industry quickly enough. https://www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/money-is-the-oxygen-on-which-the-fire-of-global-warming-burns?utm_campaign=Carbon%20Brief%20Daily%20Briefing&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Revue%20newsletter

5. Investments in renewable energy in the last decade are over $2.5 trillion, with half of that in solar. https://cleantechnica.com/2019/09/17/renewable-energy-investment-over-last-decade-tops-us2-5-trillion/?utm_source=CleanTechnica+News&utm_campaign=4d6bd1ca74-Daily+Email+CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b9b83ee7eb-4d6bd1ca74-331994013

6. New climate models show the earth heating more quickly than we had thought. https://phys.org/news/2019-09-earth-quickly-climate.html?utm_source=nwletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily-nwletter
