1. As communities realize their vulnerability in the near future, more and more will face the need to relocate. They will have some hard questions and issues to deal with. https://phys.org/news/2020-08-climate-relocation.html

2. State and federal authorities are preparing to relocate entire communities. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/26/climate/flooding-relocation-managed-retreat.html?smid=em-share

3. 50-70% of Antarctica’s floating ice shelves are susceptible to hydrofracture and breakup as heat builds in the region, leaving land ice free to flow into the sea. The finding is a step toward modeling the pace and effect of ice sheet loss and sea level rise. https://phys.org/news/2020-08-antarctic-ice-shelves-vulnerable-sudden.html

4. When the value of natural capital—clean air, water, land, and energy—is considered in policy decisions they can better reflect the needs and values of all involved. The UK has considered natural capital in drafting their 25 Year Environment Plan. https://phys.org/news/2020-08-framework-natural-capital-approach-policy.html

5. CA utilities must now account for the impact of climate change on their infrastructure and services, according it priority in their planning. 6. The Chinese start-up Xpeng has developed a line of small electric SUVs which sell in the $20-30,000 range. They are safe, technologically sophisticated, and have among the top range ratings, though they are not particularly fast. https://cleantechnica.com/2020/08/29/xpeng-g3-21383-to-29102-hot-electric-crossover-in-china/
