2. An extreme surface melt of the Greenland ice sheet in 2012 (and presumably those in other years) altered the composition of the ice in such a way as to prevent as much storage of meltwater near the surface in succeeding years, sending it down to the bottom of the sheet where it greases its slide to the ocean. https://phys.org/news/2021-04-extreme-destabilize-ice-sheets.html

3. In only 15 years, the US power sector has cut its projected carbon emissions by over half. 6. President Biden will open the climate summit thi9s morning with a pledge to cut emissions 52% by 2030.
