1. The Swedish company Einride has secured permission to test its autonomous freight trucks on US highways. The massive Pod has no accommodations for a driver and is connected to a remote operator at all times. https://electrek.co/2022/06/23/einride-autonomous-electric-trucks-us/

2. Another Swedish company, Candela, will begin operating its electric 40-foot ferry catamaran next year. The P-12 Shuttle is fast, cheap, quiet, and clean, and transports it’s 30 passengers leaving no wake at all. https://electrek.co/2022/06/23/candela-p-12-shuttle-electric-boat-images/

3. As the third Elektrek story in a row, Michelle Lewis offers a brief overview of where the G7 countries—Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US—stand on the transition to renewable energy. https://electrek.co/2022/06/23/g7-countries-us-japan-germany-clean-energy/

4. The New England Journal of Medicine is running a series of articles on the health effects of pollution from fossil fuels. The first is Climate Change, Fossil-Fuel Pollution, and Children’s Health. Registering for an account with the Journal allows you to read two free articles a month. This one appears to require no registration for access. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMra2117706

5. The Lightyear O car is energy efficient enough to get 44 miles a day from its solar cells. You can pay $264,000 and get one now (if they are available where you live). https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jun/25/keeps-going-driving-first-production-ready-solar-car-lightyear-0
Or you can wait for next year a get an Aptera for ca. $28,000 (minus the tax break) which will do the same. It’s a two-seater, though. https://cleantechnica.com/2022/06/23/aptera-reveals-factory-prefers-the-tesla-charging-connector/ Aptera’s site: https://aptera.us/?gclid=CjwKCAjw5NqVBhAjEiwAeCa97XPDPYeUcOibzGpWCgFkwMuYYdBilT5_w1jjdGmNgvEa9TpfFlOEzxoCCnAQAvD_BwE

6. The former CEO of Patagonia and the co-founder of North Face bought a chunk of southern South America as large as Latvia and began the project of rewilding it. Rewilding Argentina and Rewilding Chile continue to restore the jaguars and capybara, even teaching macaws how to fly and hunt again. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jun/24/how-to-rewild-a-country-the-story-of-argentina-aoe

7. As a five-day UN conference on the oceans convenes after a two-year delay for COVID, marine scientists warn that we must save the oceans, if only from self-interest. https://phys.org/news/2022-06-oceans-favor.html
