2. Kaiser Permanente, the country’s largest HMO, is joining with NRG, the country’s largest independent power producer, to cover its parking lots with solar panels, producing 6-8% of Kaiser’s electricity and taking them toward their goal of reducing their
greenhouse gas footprint “30% by 2020 and addressing the impacts of climate change on human health.” NRG has made clean energy agreements with several large companies in the past year.

4. The European Union’s cap and trade system, beset by low carbon prices, is beginning to generate revenue as emitters are required to pay more for permits. 87% of the proceeds are used to support renewable energy development; California’s cap and trade
system uses 100%. Almost half of global GDP now comes from regions which have put or are putting a price on carbon.

http://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2015/feb/23/five-ways-that-people-frame-climate-change-debates The IPCC uses risk management as the default frame, a practice I try to follow when I speak. I find that it disables many propaganda-influenced
arguments.

6. Willie Soon, an engineer with ties to Harvard through the Smithsonian Institution, has received $1.25 million since 2010 from the Southern Company, the American Petroleum Institute, the Koch brothers, and similar fossil fuel interests. He denies that
the money, his main source of funding, has influenced his work, which often implies that the sun is responsible for climate disruption. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/feb/21/climate-change-denier-willie-soon-funded-energy-industry
If Soon’s work were sound the funding would be a side issue. It has long been found faulty. Gavin Schmidt: “The science that Willie Soon does is almost pointless.” (Subs. required.)
