<p>1. A West Coast panel of marine scientists from the US and Canada has completed a three-year project to recommend regional actions to deal with the global problem of ocean acidification. The report recommends sequestering carbon with sea grass, and goes
on to recommend revising benchmarks for water quality and measuring and controlling a range of changes from human activity.

<p>2. A study in Geophysical Research Letters reports that sea level rise along the US East Coast has averaged 3.5 inches a decade 2002-14 (as the recent U of Miami study reported for that area). Land subsidence along the upper coast adds an inch a decade
to that. <a href="http://www.climatecentral.org/news/sinking-atlantic-coastline-meets-rapidly-rising-seas-20247">
http://www.climatecentral.org/news/sinking-atlantic-coastline-meets-rapidly-rising-seas-20247</a> The article was written with no knowledge of the rapid rate of rise from the West Antarctic Ice Sheet recently reported by NOAA.

<p>3. At $.40 a watt and headed down, First Solar is now making panels cheaper than China’s top supplier. First Solar has improved the efficiency of their panels almost 50% and reduced costs in the last five years with an ambitious investment program, partly
dependent of government loan guarantees. <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-14/first-solar-making-panels-more-cheaply-than-china-s-top-supplier?utm_source=Inside+Climate+News&utm_campaign=1622d35640-Clean_Economy_Wire12_10_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_29c928ffb5-1622d35640-326454481">

<p>7. Jacksonville’s Folio Weekly has run a story on the local impact of sea level rise. It does not mention NOAA’s recent warning of nine feet ten inches of rise by 2050-60, and implies that the late 20th Century rate of a little more than an
inch a decade of rise is just now accelerating when in fact the yearly rate since 2002 is reported to have increased to 3.5 inches a decade and the yearly rise eight-fold since 2002 to about an inch a year and headed up, but does mention the possibility of
relocating coastal communities. It also surveys the beginning of attempts in the area confront and deal with our situation.
