<p>2. Last month Judge Anne Aiken issued a decision in Juliana vs. U.S. that the plaintiffs, all 21 of the young people, and indeed the rest of us, have the right to a stable climate system, that it cannot be legislated away, and that their case for a scientifically
grounded climate action program should proceed to a trial. President Obama has the opportunity to negotiate a settlement before he leaves office.

<p>5. A politically distasteful task in preparing for climate change is to plan for the retreat and relocation of coastal communities. The Obama administration is taking it on with the formation of an interagency working group.

<p>6. The glaciers of the Tibetan Plateau supply water to nearly two billion people. They are now melting at a rate of 7% a year.
