<p>2. A study of climate history suggests that the effects of 2C of warming over a long period could be twice as severe as current models predict, perhaps because they ignore amplifying mechanisms. The impact of the study is to motivate a reduction in the carbon

<p>3. Yankeetown, on Florida’s Northwest coast, is Florida’s first community to designate an adaptation action area which is meant to use the town’s natural resources as protection against rising tides. 86% of the town’s area has been set aside as a protected

 conservation area. Yankeetown has a population of 500, which shrinks to 200 when the weather turns hot. The news story provides some general comments on climate adaptation planning in Florida.

<p>5. Columbia Business School hosted a meeting at which academics and business people discussed the implications of sea level rise of as much as fifteen feet this century. Speakers emphasized the role of compromised infrastructure in degrading homes and other
