>From Nick de Villiers:

Dear Colleagues,

I have organized a panel on "Zombie Studies," inviting Dr. David Bering-Porter, whom I met at a recent conference at UPenn and who teaches and researches Black horror, zombies, and digital humanities at The New School, and our UNF colleague Dr. Andrea Gaytan Cuesta, who is currently teaching a course on the Apocalyptic Imagination in Latin America. While I was admittedly inspired in part by this https://www.thecollegefix.com/yes-zombie-studies-is-a-thing/<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecollegefix.com%2Fyes-zombie-studies-is-a-thing%2F&data=05%7C01%7Ca.pfister%40unf.edu%7Ce9d976bec91645a4a8fb08db21721288%7Cdf29b2fa8929482f9dbb60ff4df224c4%7C1%7C0%7C638140546078198425%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=7qen1wToLKYrS5N8bsK5GtI8weCRXQHe7FFzHCzf%2BMU%3D&reserved=0>
the tone will not be defensive, but rather a chance to showcase these scholars' brilliant work and what the critical lens of zombie studies and the figure of the zombie might help illuminate. I'm grateful to the Department of English for sponsoring this event.
I hope you can join us and please share with your students as possible extra credit. I've attached the two-sheet posters (designed by Hayden Palmer) but the one with the author bios also works as a digital flyer to share in Canvas with this announcement:

Dr. David Bering-Porter (The New School) and Dr. Andrea Gaytan Cuesta (UNF Languages, Literatures, and Cultures) will talk about "Zombie Studies" on Friday, March 31 at 1:00 PM in the UNF Gallery of Art (Founders Hall, Building 2, Suite 1001). See attached poster for talk titles and presenter bios. I will be moderating the event and I'm really looking forward to it. Hope to see you there!
