[UNF-DHI] Welcome--upcoming events

Hi, all—a welcome and a couple of announcements:

  1.  New DHI graduate assistant! Please join me in welcoming Lucy Hollins as the graduate assistant in the DHI office this semester. Lucy Hollins has been at the University of North Florida since 2021- pursuing both a Bachelor's and master's degree in English with a minor in Digital Humanities. She writes that "My love for the DHI has taken various forms: courses, internships, and, currently, an assistantship. I cannot wait to continue working within the discipline."

She will be in the DHI office (Building 1/1300 on Tuesday from 1:30-5 and on Thursday from 8:30-3.

  2.  Dr. Rebecca Bilbro visit!
On Thursday, January 25, from 4-5:30 in the Writing Center, Dr. Rebecca Bilbro will present her talk, "The Human in the Loop: Harnessing Your Creativity in an AI World." Dr. Bilbro's visit is sponsored by a DHI Engaged Department Grant to the Department of English and Dr. Jenni Lieberman for facilitating her visit. Please forward the attached flier to your students!

  3.  NEH Fellowships for Digital Publication
 NEH recently announced the next competition for their Fellowships for Digital Publication program (https://www.neh.gov/grants/research/fellowships-digital-publication). Vice-President John Kantner consider this a “prestigious fellowship” and would ensure that any faculty member awarded the fellowship would be “made whole” if the NEH stipend doesn’t cover their salary.
