1. Berkeley's Resilience Strategy has developed a prioritized list of tasks which will result in a community strengthened to cope with known risks. The tasks include hardening structures against earthquakes, drought, and floods as well as improving access to affordable housing, health care, and education. A key element is to "create stronger connections between neighbors." http://www.berkeleyside.com/2016/04/01/berkeley-launches-first-resilience-strategy-in-bay-area/

2. China's State Grid Corporation has proposed a $50 trillion project to develop a worldwide efficient grid to transmit renewable energy. http://www.inquisitr.com/2949348/china-unveils-50-trillion-renewable-energy-proposal-establish-global-electricity-network-powered-by-arctic-winds-and-equatorial-sunlight/

3. Tesla Model 3 cars may now be reserved for delivery next year. The 22 minute Elon Musk presentation at the end of the linked posting explains why that news transcends the usual car ad. 6. A map shows where and when the local levelized cost of retail rooftop solar energy in the US becomes cheaper than the retail cost of energy from the grid. http://theconversation.com/when-will-rooftop-solar-be-cheaper-than-the-grid-heres-a-map-54789?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Political%20parties%20are%20losing%20power%20vs%20The%20waning%20influence%20of%20American%20political%20parties&utm_content=Political%20parties%20are%20losing%20power%20vs%20The%20waning%20influence%20of%20American%20political%20parties+Version+A+CID_d7f037f7675118af16e3f2e1430a6036&utm_source=campaign_monitor_us&utm_term=When%20will%20rooftop%20solar%20be%20cheaper%20than%20the%20grid%20Heres%20a%20map

8. Local Event: St. Augustine's Environmental Challenge Day, sponsored by the St. Johns Democratic party and many others, runs 9-4 Saturday, April 9, at the Willie Galimore Center. The indoor and outdoor event features talks (including a couple by list members on sea level rise and energy), exhibits, and food from the Oyster Creek Eatery. ?
