1. As the polar ice sheets melt, the water dome held by the gravitational attraction of the ice dissipates. A NASA animation of the GRACE satellites measurements records the effect. (Generally, within about 1200 miles of the ice sheet the diminishing gravity offsets the additional water from the melt and sea levels do not rise-they may even fall, close to the ice mass. But adjacent areas beyond that distance experience greater than average rise.) The effects are inferred by gravitational changes in this study and need to be verified by direct measurement of sea levels. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2016/07/27/a-stunning-prediction-of-climate-science-and-basic-physics-may-now-be-coming-true/

2. The Philippines' Commission on Human Rights has issued a formal complaint to the world's largest fossil fuel companies charging them with violating the rights of Filipinos to "life, food, water, sanitation, adequate housing, and to self-determination." The Commission is not a court and cannot levy fines or force the companies to limit emissions. It can expose the companies' practices and their effects. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/jul/27/worlds-largest-carbon-producers-face-landmark-human-rights-case

3. The spiral plot of earth's temperature change since the industrial revolution has inspired similar plots of other changes connected to global warming. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2016/07/28/these-climate-spirals-perfectly-illustrate-the-human-hand-in-global-climate-change/

4. Washington, D.C. has set a target of 50% renewable energy by 2032. Their program includes initiatives in solar and wind power, and in increasing energy efficiency. http://cleantechnica.com/2016/07/30/washington-dc-approves-50-renewable-electricity-2032-target/

5. According to a scientist who has used it, the Amazonian plant preparation ayahuasca has the power to teach our embeddedness in the life of the planet and, through that, the wisdom to change our destruction of the conditions of life. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/andes-to-the-amazon/2016/jul/30/ayahuasca-changing-global-environmental-consciousness ?
