1. Some groups, the Citizens' Climate Lobby chief among them, hope to persuade Republican legislators to pass a carbon tax with all the revenues returned to citizens. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent/2016/nov/21/groups-working-with-republicans-on-climate-are-discouraged-but-see-a-glimmer-of-hope

2. Canada plans to phase out all use of coal for power by 2030; they intend to produce 90% of their energy renewably by that time. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/nov/21/canada-coal-electricity-phase-out-2030

3. It is still possible, for the next five to ten years, to limit warming to 1.5C. We will need to phase out coal, switch to electric vehicles, build net zero buildings, renovate old buildings for energy efficiency, prepare to draw down carbon from the atmosphere in thirty years, and institute a program of reform in agricultural and forestry practices, shipping, and air transportation. We are already moving in most of these directions. http://theconversation.com/we-can-limit-global-warming-to-1-5-c-if-we-do-these-things-in-the-next-ten-years-69158

4. 48 disadvantaged nations have pledged to power themselves 100% renewably by 2030-2050. http://reneweconomy.com.au/nearly-50-poor-nations-commit-100-renewables-2050/?utm_source=RE+Daily+Newsletter&utm_campaign=d60f87ed6e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2016_11_23&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_46a1943223-d60f87ed6e-40325881

5. The fourteen homes of Vermont's McKnight Lane are low income housing and incorporate community energy storage for net zero energy usage. The rental homes are in a redeveloped failed trailer park. http://reneweconomy.com.au/nearly-50-poor-nations-commit-100-renewables-2050/?utm_source=RE+Daily+Newsletter&utm_campaign=d60f87ed6e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2016_11_23&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_46a1943223-d60f87ed6e-40325881

6. Florida's Easy House offers prefab metal framing and polyurethane insulated panels to provide relatively cheap energy efficient home shells which assemble in days. They are hurricane resistant (180 mph wind load), insect proof, and fire resistant. (They impressed me as a possible base for an affordable sustainable community.) http://www.easyhouseusa.com/?page_id=38&lang=en ?
