1. The US has refused to support a G7 affirmation of the Paris Agreement. California is adding a climate agreement with Germany to its recent agreements with China on climate. Now the G7 seems to be the G6+California. https://www.businessgreen.com/bg/news/3011820/germany-and-california-bolster-climate-cooperation-as-us-backs-off-g7-statement The WA Post's Chris Mooney details the US abnegation at the G7 meeting. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2017/06/12/this-is-what-the-u-s-s-new-global-isolation-on-climate-change-looks-like/?utm_source=rss_energy-environment&utm_term=.a351a49207b2

2. Twelve US cities are joining Chicago in reposting information on climate change which the EPA has erased from their website. https://www.ecowatch.com/climate-change-is-real-website-2440285898.html

3. NASA reports that fewer high clouds over the tropics than expected will lead to heavier rainfalls as the planet heats. https://phys.org/news/2017-06-nasa-future-rainier.html

4. As auto companies join the Trump administration in attempting to weaken vehicle emission rules, thirteen states are mounting a court challenge to their attempts to undercut the standards. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-autos-idUSKBN19027I

5. Examining discrepancies between models and the temperature record since the last ice age involves analyzing oxygen isotopes in stalactites to correct the temperature record and rethinking the effect of changes in the earth's orbit on seasonal variations. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent/2017/jun/14/new-research-may-resolve-a-climate-conundrum-across-the-history-of-human-civilization

6. A non-corrosive, cheap flow batter has been developed at Harvard which is enormously more long-lived than a lithium ion battery. Its likely application is on power grids, though it is not yet commercial. https://cleantechnica.com/2017/06/13/harvard-researchers-report-long-life-flow-battery-breakthrough/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+IM-cleantechnica+%28CleanTechnica%29

7. In southern Asia, a .5C rise in average summer temperatures has been associated with a 146% rise in deaths from heat waves. http://climatenewsnetwork.net/climate-change-causes-killer-heatwaves/?utm_source=Climate+News+Network&utm_campaign=ac67a6a4b7-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_06_14&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_1198ea8936-ac67a6a4b7-38803053

8. Over 200 US mayors have signed pledges to observe the Paris agreement by cutting emissions, yet broad controls are beyond their range. One way they could make a significant contribution is by using electric vehicles in their fleets, developing infrastructure to serve them while bringing down the cost of EVs. https://theconversation.com/cities-can-jump-start-climate-progress-by-plugging-in-their-vehicles-78796?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20June%2013%202017%20-%2076175970&utm_content=Latest%20from%20The%20Conversation%20for%20June%2013%202017%20-%2076175970+Version+A+CID_e8e67f1ab46e2c963b12ec5a3a1a2f8a&utm_source=campaign_monitor_us&utm_term=Cities%20can%20jump-start%20climate%20progress%20by%20plugging%20in%20their%20vehicles

8. A Japanese study indicates that personal participation in energy efficiency can influence the individual not to support public emission control measures. The lesson seems to be to promote such priorities as a C tax directly. http://www.anthropocenemagazine.org/2017/06/why-environmentally-friendly-behavior-can-reduce-support-for-environmentally-friendly-policy/ ?
