Global investors with $32tn under management have petitioned the delegates at Katowice to end the use of coal and enact urgent cuts in carbon emissions or risk a permanent financial catastrophe. “Standard and Poor’s rating agency also warned leaders: ‘Climate change has already started to alter the functioning of our world.’” The investors called for an end to fossil fuel subsidies.
