1. While climate deniers are regularly debunked-for example, on the Skeptical Science site https://skepticalscience.com/ --climate alarmists are seldom challenged. But then they are seldom noticed. The story explains why Skeptical Science will continue to ignore them and gives a couple of alarming examples. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/climate-consensus-97-per-cent/2018/jul/09/there-are-genuine-climate-alarmists-but-theyre-not-in-the-same-league-as-deniers

2. A study of climate history suggests that the effects of 2C of warming over a long period could be twice as severe as current models predict, perhaps because they ignore amplifying mechanisms. The impact of the study is to motivate a reduction in the carbon budget to account for the greater anticipated warming. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/jul/06/global-temperature-rises-could-be-double-those-predicted-by-climate-modelling

3. Yankeetown, on Florida's Northwest coast, is Florida's first community to designate an adaptation action area which is meant to use the town's natural resources as protection against rising tides. 86% of the town's area has been set aside as a protected conservation area. Yankeetown has a population of 500, which shrinks to 200 when the weather turns hot. The news story provides some general comments on climate adaptation planning in Florida. https://fcir.org/2018/07/08/yankeetown-florida-climate-change-sea-level-rise/

4. Last year saw a record amount of forest cover loss. Sonia Melissa Steinhardt sends the article from Axios. https://www.axios.com/2017-was-2nd-worst-year-for-tree-cover-loss-27553300-cfd2-4a42-ad11-bd71f05a3dfb.html

5. Columbia Business School hosted a meeting at which academics and business people discussed the implications of sea level rise of as much as fifteen feet this century. Speakers emphasized the role of compromised infrastructure in degrading homes and other property. Insurance rates are likely to raise the first commanding alarm. http://blogs.ei.columbia.edu/2018/07/09/sea-level-rise-coastal-development-science-speaks-directly-business/ ?
