1. The mesopaper disc looks like the thing for filtering water on a small scale. It uses tiny ceramic and iron bits embedded in the bamboo fiber paper, works until it won't pass water through anymore, and is safely disposable in the trash. It filters out about everything (except flavor-giving minerals) and kills germs much more cheaply and sustainably than other filter systems. https://www.fastcompany.com/40537758/these-cheap-paper-water-filters-remove-lead-arsenic-and-bacteria

Amazon is listing but not yet selling the filters. https://www.amazon.com/Mesofilter-Mesopaper/dp/B07B44ZQBT

The NSF has certified it. http://www.nsf.org/newsroom/nsf-international-certifies-mesopaper-a-new-filtration-medium

Mesopaper belongs on this list because supplying clean water will be one of our collective challenges.

2. Nanowood is a better, cheaper, and stronger insulation material than Styrofoam or fiberglass, and it is biodegradable. Insolation is an important part of energy efficiency, and another of our common challenges. https://cleantechnica.com/2018/03/14/new-material-made-wood-biodegradable-super-insulation/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+IM-cleantechnica+%28CleanTechnica%29

3. Zarrow Pointe retirement community in Tulsa, OK, has installed a solar array over part of their parking lot. http://www.tulsaworld.com/business/energy/retirement-community-embraces-renewable-energy-with-solar-panels-on-parking/article_85331a42-1729-5473-a481-332a4c3bf5ac.html

4. A group of scientists are proposing three geoengineering plans to slow the melting of polar ice sheets. All provide conventional engineering fixes without interference in the atmosphere. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-018-03036-4

5. New York's community solar program allows citizens to own or lease solar panels on centralized installations. The cost is much less than the usual rooftop array. The state's public/private partnership is already reducing its carbon footprint. https://cleantechnica.com/2018/03/15/new-york-taking-lead-community-solar/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+IM-cleantechnica+%28CleanTechnica%29

6. In 2017 solar installations were down 10% from the especially high growth rates of 2016. The main driver was business plan adjustment among major installers. The Trump solar panel tariff and tax giveaway to corporations are expected to lead to a temporary plateau in installations in 2018. https://cleantechnica.com/2018/03/15/us-solar-adds-10-6-gigawatts-2017-10-yoy/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+IM-cleantechnica+%28CleanTechnica%29 ?
