1. The history of the youth-led Sunrise movement, mover of the Green New Deal, serves as the focus for a sketch of the origins and prospects of climate activism in the US. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2022/03/07/the-youth-movement-trying-to-revolutionize-climate-politics?utm_source=nl&utm_brand=tny&utm_mailing=TNY_Magazine_Daily_022822&utm_campaign=aud-dev&utm_medium=email&bxid=5be9cafe24c17c6adf39e724&cndid=18164692&hasha=8c547d53af6ff6fc7d49cb8612c07102&hashb=e0cd75d11efd01a0b77ab9e6aebc9acfab41dac0&hashc=fe17c36079354ec46082a9a7c8fc19c8d3b811c991613e650512e53c322cb659&esrc=auto_auth_de&utm_term=TNY_Daily

2. Six lifestyle changes can cut carbon emissions by a quarter. While personal actions cannot solve the climate problem, they can help, and a pledge to observe the measures involves you in the solution. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/mar/07/six-key-lifestyle-changes-can-help-avert-the-climate-crisis-study-finds

3. Of the six pledges, a plant-based diet is the most necessary to achieving a stable climate and a sustainable way of life. Google ”planetary health diet” for further info. A three-year old Guardian article makes the case. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/jan/16/new-plant-focused-diet-would-transform-planets-future-say-scientists

4. A factor of the necessary diet change is that we need to rewild a lot of the land now devoted to raising and feeding animals. A study in Nature Food analyzes the impact through land use changes if 54 wealthy nations adopted the planetary health diet. https://www.anthropocenemagazine.org/2022/01/what-would-happen-if-just-54-wealthy-nations-adopted-the-eat-lancet-planetary-health-diet/

5. The Amazon rainforest has been predicted by computer models to be approaching a tipping point beyond which it will convert to savannah within decades, releasing significant carbon to the atmosphere. Now a study of satellite data over the past thirty years indicates that over 75% is already losing stability, and the forest as a whole appears to be close to an irreversible degradation, with knock-on effects for the general climate system. The study indicates that the forest has not yet reached its tipping point. We do not know when it will occur. https://www.carbonbrief.org/declining-resilience-pushing-amazon-rainforest-towards-tipping-point?utm_campaign=buffer&utm_content=buffer425b0&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com

6. A bipartisan movement in the US legislature would end the import of Russian oil. What would replace it? New oil sources, or renewables? (The EU is debating the issue as well.) https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/07/us/politics/russia-ukraine-climate-oil-gas.html?utm_campaign=Daily%20Briefing&utm_content=20220308&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Revue%20newsletter
