1. A new study of the health effects of adherence to the Planetary Health Diet in two cohorts reinforces a meta-analysis of 37 published cohort studies in its finding that “higher adherence to the PHD was associated with lower risks of all-cause, cancer, and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality and reduced risks of colorectal cancer, lung cancer, CVDs, coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. This analysis suggests that higher adherence to the PHD may offer substantial health benefits.” https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.adq5147
2. Pornainen, Finland, is using a sand battery which will store 100 MWh of power in the form of heat, enough to meet the needs of the small town. It is ten times the size of the first sand battery, which is also Finnish. https://newatlas.com/energy/largest-sand-battery-finland-pornainen/
3. Global solar power installations are up 64% with 380 GW added in the first half of 2025. The US even saw a 4% rise, in spite of the current administration’s efforts. https://www.utilitydive.com/news/solar-installations-global-china-rising/759194/?utm_source=cbnewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=2025-09-05&utm_campaign=Daily+Briefing+Trump+sued+over+wind+cuts+Australia+investment+warning+Fresh+floods+in+India+and+Pakistan
4. India leads the world in the pace at which it is adopting renewable energy. US is coming in a shaky second, thanks to the projects begun under Biden’s leadership. China still holds the lead in the sheer amount of renewable energy it has developed; there, too, the US holds second place. With its record pace of development, India is positioned to overtake the US in installed renewable energy this decade. The picture becomes indistinct when private wind and solar installations are taken into account, though China may well lead there too. The article summarizes the pace of renewable energy development in other regions of the world. https://cleantechnica.com/2025/09/08/who-is-leading-the-global-renewable-energy-race/
5. When you look at the renewable energy per person, Finland leaps to the top of the list. Hannah Ritchie suggests some other interesting terms of comparison. https://www.sustainabilitybynumbers.com/p/solar-wind-speed-rollout?utm_source=cbnewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=2025-09-09&utm_campaign=Africa%2Bclimate%2Bsummit%2BEU%2BEVs%2Bon%2Btrack%2BUK%2Breshuffle%2Blatest
